Columbus Police officer hurt in crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- A Columbus Police officer is recovering after being pinned under a vehicle along I-71 Thursday morning.

Officer Judy Lawrence, a 28 year veteran of the division, was helping a driver that had crashed in the snow near Cooke Road when another vehicle crashed into the first, knocking Lawrence to the ground. It happened around 11 a.m.

Columbus Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said Lawrence was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with broken bones and cuts to her head. She's expected to make a full recovery.

The driver that caused the incident, Jarrett Lunpkin, is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault, no operators license, driving under suspension, and driving while intoxicated.
