Hostage situation at Trumbull Co Jail ends

WARREN, Ohio (WTVN) -- A hostage situation involving three inmates who held a corrections officer inside a cell at the Trumbull County Jail ended after five hours.

The situation began around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon and was resolved around 8:30 p.m.

One of the inmates involved, David Martin, is being held on murder charges from the Cleveland/Akron area and had threatened corrections officers in recent weeks. Inmate Kevin Johns is charged with rape and kidnapping. The third inmate involved is identified as Richard Ware.

The corrections officer was not hurt, but was being taken to the hospital to be checked over as a precaution.

Local law enforcement was joined by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and FBI at the scene.
