Man sentenced in murder of Pataskala man

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) --A judge has sentenced a Columbus man to 23 years to life in prison after he admitted fatally shooting a contractor while trying to rob a rented barn in Pataskala last year.

Fifty-year-old Danny Hensley pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the October slaying of Thomas Miller of Pataskala.

The 69-year-old Miller was a contractor who kept his tools and supplies in the rented barn near his home. Prosecutors said last October, he responded to a security alert at the barn near Mink and Broad Streets and blocked in Hensley's vehicle. Hensley, prosecutors said, fired six shots into Miller's windshield.

Police arrived a short time later, and Hensley was captured after a foot chase.

Hensley has an extensive criminal record in several Ohio counties.
