OSU and most schools closed for Monday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Many central Ohio school districts made the call on Sunday, while rain fell and temperatures were in the 40s, to close schools for Monday.

The bulk of the closures came after Columbus City Schools and Columbus Catholic Schools decided to call off classes.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, Ohio State University made the rare move of cancelling classes. Spokesman Gary Lewis says that hasn't happened since February, 2011 when evening classes were cancelled.

The decision was made in light of predictions of wind-chill factors well below-zero on Monday morning.

OSU Employees designated as “essential” may be required to report to work and should check with their supervisor about whether or not they need to come in. Provisions are in place to allow for parking in the academic core as well as in non-Medical Center parking garages. See below for additional details. All other employees are not expected to report to work.

As always, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center remains open 24 hours a day, as do other essential services such as public safety and residence halls.
