Joel Riley's 2013 Memorial Tournament

  •
Bill Haas with his caddy on the range.
  •
Charl Schwartzel getting some help form his caddy and mentor before he tees of for practice round #1.
  •
Charl seems to be having a hard time hearing with the wind blowing.
  •
Haas yells over at another player... that wind is knocking the ball down!
  •
    Now Haas and Schwartzel confer.
  •
and Bill signs an autograph for a young fan.
  •
and another one headed to the practice green.
  •
Ostrander's own Ben Curtis listens in as he warms up.
  •
Hunter Mahan is a favorite wherever he goes and is easy to spot in the flat bill lid.
  •
Mahan's set up is perfect and how about the color of the soles on his shoes?
  •
Curtis is still soaking up any coaching he can get.
  •
    Mahan hits another perfect iron.
  •
You gotta love Johnson Wagner's mustache... I think it's what gives him power.
  •
Almost like he thinks the others are weak.
  •
But he still needs them... at least for another ball on the range!
  •
Charles Howell III hasn't won on Tour this year, bit dude is always seemingly in the top 15.
  •
Even the other players watch how he strokes it and practices... must be something to it.
  •
Charles knows he has to keep the putter grooved at Jack's place.
  •
Three young stars... Justin Rose, Geoff Ogilvie, and Dustin Johnson.
  •
And yes, there were lots of young girls around... just watching and wishing.
  •
Ray Floyd is this year's honoree.
  •
Down the pipe on #1 is a great feeling.
  •
    Ben Curtis is there, too.
  •
Must be nice to hit the green and have a legitimate birdie chance, eventhough it's onlt a practice round.
  •
Curtis stroke a beauty on #1.
  •
Not sure which is smoother... the stroke or the green.
  •
Caught up with Davis Love II on number 2.
  •
He worked on some chipping. Amazing how he could make the ball just die right near the hole.
  •
    Just a bit outside...
  •
DL II had no trouble from the green side rough.
  •
The par 5 fifth hole is a beast with a creek that bisects the fairway and a pond in front of the green.
  •
I think the judges scored her a little high!
  •
You can't see that contour on tv...
  •
William Mc Girt knows to stay out of the rough on #7.
  •
Much easier to hit it close from the fairway.
  •
    This guy... no so much
  •
  •
Tianlang Guan (Langly) tees it up on the par three #8. He hits way more club than most of the pros, but his results are great.
  •
Great position at the top evenhough it was more than a little breezy.
  •
  •
The bunker left of 8 green is deep, but the young man has no trouble putting the ball close.
  •
It's nice to see your name on the leader board, but it would be better to see it up there on Sunday!
  •
Another great group at the Memorial for practice day. Pat Perez, Charlie Hoffman, and Lee Westwood. Westwood hasn't played in Dublin since 2003. Lots of the international players are in town because the president's Cup will play here in the fall and they want more chances to play it.
  •
    All friendly now.
  •
  •
  •
Lee Westwood seems incredulous at just how much slope there is on the back on nine green. He rolled a ball up to the back fringe and then...
  •
Watched as it rolled back past him on the way to the front of the green.
  •
Gonna have to hit that approach with no spin, Lee.
  •
Of course once the play is over, the fans want autographs and Lee and Pat were gracious enough to sign as many as the fans wanted.
  •
  •
Ricky Fowler told us yesterday that his ball striking has been fine this year, but it's his putter that's holding him back. Here he is on the practice green working on drills that hopefully will pay off once the Memorial starts.
  •
Not sure what that contraption is, but just like Rickie, it's plenty colorful!
  •
  •
Rory McIlroy will draw plenty of attention once the tournament begins. Here, he has the ear of the great Nick Price...
  •
  •
  •
Maybe they are already strategizing for the President's Cup at Muirfield Village
  •
Justin Leonard playing 18 alone... guess no one wanted top join him.
  •
    Yep, 18 can be lonely.
